One other issue relates to prophecy. Amos 3:7 says: 'For the Lord Jehovah will do nothing unless He has revealed His secret counsel to His servants the prophets.' So I think you'd have to believe that prophecy also continued today.
However, Daniel 9:24 says that prophecy would cease at the end of the period of 'seventy sevens', which ended during the lifetimes of first century Jews (Matthew 24:15), something that is also born out by other passages such as Zechariah 13:2,3; John 12:35 and Revelation 23:18.
So I'd love to believe in miracles, but am sceptical at the moment I'm afraid. Perhaps one of you can persuade me.
I believe miracles still occur, I have known some first hand cases of remarkable miracles and there is an increasing body of literature in peer reviewed scientific journal articles to evaluate miracles which have happened very recently in Jesus name!
Yes there are a number of medical miracles which have been described as medically unexplained by independent medical teams, some have now been documented in peer reviewed scientific journals.

One text that points to a hiatus in miracles is John 9:1-4. It doesn't say for how long no one would be able to work miracles, though.
